Liverpool are still reportedly keeping tabs on out-of-contract Reading defender Alex Pearce.

The 24-year old is yet to sign a new deal at the Madejski Stadium and it is looking increasingly likely that Pearce could be looking for a new club in the summer. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers worked with the defender when he was Royals boss over three years ago, making him club captain at the tender age of just 21.

As the time draws on, the less likely it seems that Pearcey will remain at the club. Ironically enough, he shares the same agent as Hal Robson-Kanu, who opted to sign a new deal late on after considering other options two seasons ago. Will we see the same situation with Alex? I certainly hope so.

He’s alright but Liverpool? We certainly need some defensive reinforcements with Carra set to retire and the likes of Coates seemingly not up to the required standard but I very much doubt Pearce would be on the radar. More likely Rodgers will try and reunite himself with Swansea’s Ashley Williams

I agree that he is probably isn’t up to the standard of Liverpool at the moment, he certainly wouldn’t be in your first three choices for centre-half.
