Little Should Have Beat Jagielka

Steve Sidwell has the same opinion as most Royals fans when it comes to 4-4-2 Magazines award for best player outside the Premiership.

4-4-2’s result of placing Phil Jagielka as top performer miffed a lot of Royals fans who thought, and in my opinion quite rightly, that the award should have gone to Glen Little, Dave Kitson or Sidwell himself.

Sidwell was just twelve votes behind the winner in the end, but he believes that the award should have gone to the man who came in at 17th place, Glen Little.

Speaking to icberkshire, Sidwell said: ‘Phil’s a friend of mine and and I’m delighted for him. Only 12 votes separated us out of thousands.

‘Personally I’d have given it to Glen Little. To say he’s the 17th best player in the league is ridiculous.

‘Unfortunately, the rules meant we couldn’t nominate team-mates in our top five players so I put Jagielka first and I believe he put me first as well.

‘But if someone asked me to pick my personal top five, Blakey would be first and Kevin Doyle would also be in there.

‘I see them perform week-in-week-out and they’ve been fantastic for us this season.

‘A big cog would be missing if you took them out of our team.’
