Little Out For The Season

Glen Little will sit the rest of Reading`s first Premiership campaign out after yielding to a damaged achilles.

Up until now Little has been playing on despite the niggling pain that has troubled him, but finally the right winger has decided he must sit out the rest of the season and receive treatment on the injury:

‘I’ve had it for a few months now, I’ve been getting through it but I can’t do it any more,

‘I don’t know how it first happened, it just started to come on not long after Christmas.

‘At that point I could get through it, but I knew it was there. It became more and more of a struggle and has been getting to me.

‘It’s become a fight just to get out on the pitch, so I’m at the stage where I want to get it right because I can’t keep going like this.

‘It’s getting difficult just to get into training in the morning. Before games I’ve been trying to get it going and work it, but it’s really grinding me down.”

Although Little is optimistic that the injury will not keep out all season it is unlikely he will play any further part in Reading`s campaign:

‘Right now I don’t know how long I’ll be out. I’ve not had this type of injury before.

‘I want to make sure it’s right. If I can come back this season then great, but if not I’ll have to take it on the chin and wait for next season.’

Too be honest, im glad. Little has not been up to his usual high standards recently and at least there is a reason why, before now I just thought he was playing poorly?

John Oster and Seol Ki-Hyeon will now be vying for the opening on the right flank in Little`s absence. In my opinion it should be Oster who takes his place; the Welsh winger has not been given a chance to show what he can do this season and has consistently impressed in substitute appearances throughout the season.
