Lita Stars For Reserves

Leroy Lita gave boss Steve Coppell food for thought after a superb display for the reserves last night.

Lita smashed in four goals as the Reading second string tore the Ram’s reserves to shreds.

Reading dominated from start to finish, but it took until the closing minutes of the first half for them to break the deadlock.

A clever back heel from Shane Long, found the run of Liam Rosenior, whose centre was met by Lita to tap in his first of the night.

Lita got his second in the early stages of the second half, latching on to a through ball from Oliver Bozanic, to slot passed the Derby ‘keeper.

Shane Long made it 3-0 with an excellent solo effort, before Lita completed his hat-trick with a 20-yard effort, then rounded off the scoring with a close range strike from a Long knock down.

It was an excellent display, from a very strong Reading side, which included an impressive performance from Jimmy ‘Thierry’ Kebe.

Leroy Lita, relegation beater?
It may have been against the reserve side of the worst team in the division, but after this display, the troubled striker may finally have kick started his season.

Lita has been out of favour with Steve Coppell this season, but after 7 defeats in a row, and no goals in four, Lita will surely have to start against Villa.

Kevin Doyle has looked a shadow of his former self recently and Dave Kitson’s goals seem to be drying up, so Lita could well be the life line Reading need to stay up this season.

Whatever issues Steve Coppell has with Lita, he surely can’t be over looked for the Villa game and I for one will be asking questions of the manager if Leroy doesn’t get the opportunity he thoroughly deserves.
