Lita Joins Charlton

Leroy Lita scored his sixth goal in four reserve games in the 2-1 win over Chelsea reserves last night.

With Kevin Doyle and Dave Kitson unable to find the back of the net at the moment, it seemed inevitable that Lita would get the first team chance he thoroughly deserves.

Unfortunately, Steve Coppell bizarrely has over ideas and Lita has joined Charlton on loan for 28 days.

Coppell said, ‘Leroy has understandably been frustrated at his lack of first team action recently, so this loan move will be a perfect way for him to retain match sharpness at the highest level of Championship competition’.

Lita has looked very sharp for the reserves, whilst Doyle and Kitson seem to be very short on confidence and currently lacking a killer instinct, so this loan move comes as a big shock.

With Shane Long the only other striker in the squad, Steve Coppell apparently feels that three strikers who can’t buy a goal at the moment are going to be enough to keep the club in the division.

Coppell has been a great manager for Reading, but it seems he has let his personal relationship with Lita effect his judgement and it remains to be seen whether this will ultimately effect Reading’s chances of survival.

Absolutely shocking decision. Lita is the best natural goalscorer we have at the club. Doyle, kits and Long are yet to socre this year and Lita is banging them in for the reserves. I can’t believe they’ve let him go. There is no pressure on doyle and kits to perform now. Coppell has let his personal feud wiv lita get in the way and I fear we’re going to suffer because of it. We’re going to have to rely on the midfield to get our goals cos i can’t see anyone else scoring in the forseeable future.
We’ve lost 2 striekrs int he last 2 months and brought none in. Every squad needs at least 4 strikers. We now have 3, in a relegation dog fight. Wot a load of s***.
    Sorry, rant over.

I agree with you Uroyals, It is so bizarre as to why this has been done. We turned down 7 million for him in January and then don’t play him! His last goal came against a strong Chelski Reserves team. This could be a bad decision from Coppell!

what has Coppell seemingly got against the guy? he was on the fringes of international footy not long ago!

Charlton are really bringing in some quality on loans. Guess they really want to make an impact towards the end of this season huh?

Well this weekend has proved me wrong! I will have faith in Long, Kitson & Doyle and maybe it will turn out to be a good gamble by Sir Steve!!! I see Lita has played in 2 Charlton games now without any decent return!
