Leigertwood joins on loan

All the talk was that we were about to sign a loan player and the likes of Eidur Gudjohnsen and Matty Fryatt were linked with moves to the Madejski Stadium. We are desperately in need of another striker, so I think we can be forgiven for being less than enthusiastic about the loan signing of QPR’s Mikele Leigertwood!

He has always struck me as an average Championship player, who does not seem to have a favoured position although we are assured that he is a defensive midfielder. On speaking to QPR supporting friends I was told that the only good thing he ever does is pop up with an absolute stunning goal a couple of times a season. The rest of the time he bums around midfield, passing to the opposition and generally not doing a lot else. Fantastic, can’t wait to see him play!

To be fair we have been shipping goals in the last few weeks and a defensive midfielder could help shore us up a little but what does that mean for the likes of Jay Tabb and Brian Howard? A midfield of Karacan and Leigertwood does not look like one of a team who wants to get into the play offs.

Apologies for not getting too excited about the signing of QPR’s 6th choice centre midfielder….

He is a very good player on his day, sadly his day hasn’t been evident for about two years. He seems to lack motivation and I’m sure a fresh challenge will do him good. At the moment as you say, he is distinctly average.

Permanent deal possible, do you reckon? Seems like a bit of a ‘try before you buy’ deal to me.
