Sky Sports has reported that Championship rivals Leicester City have made a bid for Readings star striker Shane Long, as Sven Goran Eriksson looks on to continue his spending spree.

The former England manager has already tempted former Royal Matt Mills to the club and he is looking to raid the Royals again, in attempt to sign a new striker.

This comes after yesterday that Vital Reading reported that the Foxes boss was interested in the Republic of Ireland international, but he felt he would go to a Premier League team.

Reading have already rejected a bid from West Ham as they look content not to sell to a Championship rival but McDermott could be tempted to in an attempt to balance the books.

This could however prompt other Premier League teams to make a move, as Newcastle, Everton and West Brom are among the clubs interested in the 24-year old.
