Reading left back Joe Mills has admitted he had no regrets leaving his boyhood club Southampton in favour of joining the Royals.

The left back signed in the summer transfer window from the Saints for a small fee, after he was pushed further down the pecking order with the league leaders signing left back Danny Fox.

Mills told the Reading Post: ‘I had been there since I was a lad and I don`t regret the decision and I`m happy to be here.’

“I don`t think it`s a case of me proving a point. More a case of me proving a point to myself and keeping my place in the team for the rest of the season.’

Despite Mills only making 26 appearances in his three-year tenure with the Saints, he played a part in their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win last year, along with Michail Antonio.
