Reading striker Dave Kitson, is set to be a surprise inclusion in Fabio Capello’s first England squad, according to the News of the World.

Kitson has been in excellent form this season and is currently the top scoring Englishman in the Premier League.

Capello will name his squad for the friendly with Switzerland, on saturday, and the Italian has apparently been impressed by Kitson’s ‘aggressive, direct style’.

Kitson has arguably been Reading’s best player this season, he has a great touch, two good feet, an excellent range of passing and is good in the air and on the ground.

With eight goals to his name this season, an England call up would be a dream come true for the former Sainsbury worker, who rejected a chance to play for Republic of Ireland last year.

The England players have been heavily criticised for their lack of passion when playing for their country, but Kitson, a real football fan, is one player who would give it his all should he be given the chance.

If he’s there on merit, good luck to him. That’s the whole reason for friendlies to give these guys some experience of the England set up, whether they play or not.
