It could be a very merry Christmas for Reading boss, Steve Coppell, and his injured striker, Dave Kitson, if Coppell is right and the player is back on the field in time for the festive fixtures.

Kitson has been hampered by injuries since the opening day of the season but Coppell believes during the busy Christmas schedule Kitson could make a return.

Kitson was on the right track to play again at the beginning of December but was set back by a hamstring injury he picked up in training.

The 25-year-old has been devastated about his injury in Reading`s first Premiership campaign:

‘We were going to send someone round to his house last weekend on suicide watch because he was massively, massively depressed after the event,” Coppel revealed,

‘We are looking at Christmas at the earliest. The rehabilitation process is so dull but he’s got to go through it again.’

The addition of the forward during such a busy period could be a boost to Reading who face both Chelsea and Man United in away fixtures before the year is out.

Kitson was a productive figure in the Reading line up last season he scored 19 goals before the season was out.

In other injury news, the Royals physiotherapist, Jon Fearn, is confident that both Glenn Little and Steve Sidwell will be available for staurday`s home fixture with Bolton.

The two players are currently playing on top of their game and were obviously missed when they were substituted in last weekend`s game at Fulham.

Jon Fearn told the club’s official website. ‘Glen came off concerned about his hamstring, having felt a twinge,’

‘He’s got very minor grade one damage. He did the right thing coming off and we hope he’ll be available on Saturday.

‘Siddy got a knee in the centre of his hip and it gave him nerve pain and a very sore backside!

‘He’s getting better now and we’ll see how he is in the coming days. We’re confident for the weekend.’

I thought you’d really miss him and be struggling, Doyle has stepped up and bagged the goals for you!! Kitson will have a fight on to get his place back!!

    Ditto.

I think you’ll be grateful when he’s back. Doyle seems to be scoring all your goals (which is no bad thing!) but he will have a lean spell at some point and you will want someone to take over form him, ie. Kitson.
