Reading have cut short the loan of Tottenham defender Bongani Khumalo, as the South African international was keen on playing first team football, which Brian McDermott could not gaurantee him.

The 25-year old only made four league appearences for the Royals and one Carling Cup game. Injury didn’t help Khumalo’s cause and the signing and form of Kaspars Gorkss was a huge factor in the South African not playing a huge amount of games.

The deal was due to end at the end of the season but he was keen to play first-team football elsewhere in an attempt to get back into the national side, with Royals boss Brian McDermott wiling to grant him his wish.

The former Preston loanee has in theory been replaced by QPR loanee Matthew Connolly, who provides crucial defensive cover for Gorkss and Pearce in the run up to the end of the season.

So was he not very good wen he was on the pitch for your lot? Waste of money by ‘arry then after one of our pre season jollies in Africa.

Didn’t really see enough of him to be honest. Looked a tiny bit shaky to start with but progressed a little bit. Still nowhere near Premier League level.
