Khumalo eyes Royals return

Reading defender Bongani Khumalo has said he is focused on winning his place back in the Reading team, after it turns out that injury led to him losing his place in the side.

The South African international signed from Tottenham in July and started the first four games for Brian McDermott, with his last appearance coming in the Carling Cup defeat at Charlton.

The 24-year old told KickOff.com: ‘The team is doing quite well at the moment so it’s unlikely it will change right now – all I can do is keep working and make sure I’m ready.’

‘I feel good and strong and ready to play so I just have to wait for my chance. I think I’ve finally settled in now but it has been a tough year for me. I’m getting used to the pace of the game and feeling more confident now.

The good form of Kaspars Gorkss and Alex Pearce has also faltered Khumalo’s international selection. He was an unused substitute in their 0-0 draw with Sierra Leone.
