Key midfielder John Swift will miss the last four games of the season for Reading FC after undergoing surgery on a hip injury.

The twenty-three-year-old picked up the injury in the 2-1 win at home to Preston after the international break. He has not played in any of the three matches since then, and now after going under the knife, he will definitely be out for the rest of the campaign.

It will be an undeniable blow for the Royals as Swift has been in good form as of late, but the side may not suffer as much without him as you may think, as Jose Gomes’ men have picked up four points in the three games that Swift has missed.

It’s a shame to see Swift out injured again. For a player so young to have picked up as many injuries as he has, the former Chelsea will no doubt be frustrated he cannot play a part in the final few games to help his side try and secure safety in the Championship.
