Kebe describes Reading as like a ‘big family’

Reading winger Jimmy Kebe has described the club like a ‘big family’ and explained his motives in staying at the Madejski Stadium, following the completion of his new deal signed a few days ago.

The 28-year old Malian signed a extension to his current deal, which will keep him at the club until 2014. The board were also keen to reiterate that the terms of the contract were exactly the same to the terms offered, before the proposed takeover by investment group TSI.

Kebe told the official RFC website: ‘That’s why I’m saying all the time Reading is like a big family, there are big fans behind us – so like I said we will try to get better, and with the fans behind us it’s going to be a great season hopefully.’

‘It feels good, I always said I wanted to stay here – so it’s not a surprise that I signed the contract. It’s a good day. He’s [Brian McDermott] a great manager for me, that’s why I want to stay here for a long time.’

The former Lens player has had recent injury troubles, concerning a knee problem which kept him out of last week’s loss against Hull. However, Kebe should be fit for this weekend’s game against Bristol City, with Michail Antonio on standby.
