Jem Karacan capped a fine performance in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Doncaster with the second goal, and he is hoping he has done enough to earn a call up to the Turkey national squad.

Manager Guss Hiddink was rumoured to be in the stands watching the game on Saturday as he gets set to name his latest squad for a friendly against Holland later this month.

Karacan told the Reading Post,

‘I want to play for Turkey, that`s my aim. I want to play for my country, especially for my dad, and I want to put on that shirt again.’

The goal at the weekend was his second of the season and he is looking to continue that run and score at least 10 come what May.

‘Growing up and seeing the likes of Sidders and Harps always trying to get 10 goals from midfield – that has to be my target.’

If Karacan can continue his fine run of form he will have every chance of becoming a regular at international level. Whether that will be whilst still a Reading player I don’t know.
