28 year Icelandic old central defender Ivar Ingimarsson is after a new contract to settle himself for what he believes will be ‘the best years’ (of his career)

Talks are due for Ivar, Marcus Hahnemann and James Harper in the next few weeks.

Coppell signed Ivar from Wolves for £100 000 in 2003. If we don’t sign him up, he will become a free agent in the summer, which means come this January, he would be free to negotiate with other clubs. However, the player wants to stay and is looking for a long term committment so he can concentrate on his football.

He told the Reading Evening Post ‘We have had talks but only preliminary and nothing has been agreed yet. Hopefully the club can come up with something that is acceptable. I made it clear in the summer that I want to stay here and I would like to sort it out sooner rather than later.’

He then explains he feels he is approaching the peak of his game:

‘The next three or four years will be my best as a centre-half. I feel as good as I ever have now and I’d like to sign a three-year deal here.

‘If I do that then I can give Reading the best three years of my career. Hopefully something can be sorted because I really want to stay.’
