Following a meeting of the clubs board of directors, it has been decided to offer new 1 year deals to long serving Icelandic players Brynjar Gunnarsson and Ivar Ingimarsson. Both players remain from the 2006 championship winning side and Brian McDermott is keen to keep an experienced look running through his squad to add to the number of gifted youngsters we have.


Ingimarsson has been injured for long spells this season, not playing until the end of September due to a knee injury and then missing the last few months with a hamstring tear. He is also believed to have turned down a similar offer earlier in the year, as he looks for a 2 year deal.


Gunnarsson was a regular in the squad but didn’t start as often as he might have liked, however his professionalism is sure to be a major asset to the club next season if he decides to stay.


Both players though are thought to be catching the eye of Steve Coppell at Bristol City as he looks to build a squad capable to challenging for promotion at Ashton Gate.

    Would like to see Bryn stay, however Ingi is injury prone and wouldn’t be too upset if he left, as long as he is replaced!
