Following today’s clash between Reading and Stevenage, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Reading hosted Stevenage at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday January 16 for an FA Cup third round replay, with the hosts taking a three nil victory at the second time of asking with a hattrick from the Dadi of the day Bodvarsson who hit the net in minutes 32, 44 and 64, to secure their place in the fourth round.

Reading:

Jaakkola, Bacuna (Richards 80), Ilori, Blackett, Gunter, Edwards, Kelly, Aluko, Clement, Beerens, Bodvarsson.

Substitutes:

Mannone, Evans, McCleary, Kermorgant, Popa, Andresson.

Stevenage:

King, Henry, King, Wilmot, Martin, Pett, Smith, McKee (Conlon 71), Kennedy (Samuel 71), Newton (Georgiou 85), Godden.

Substitutes:

Fryer, Franks, Wilkinson, Vancooten.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Tim Robinson blew the final whistle, Reading manager Jaap Stam explained.

‘It’s good to have a win and go to the next round in the FA Cup but also for the players because it gives them a bit of extra confidence as well.’

With a clash of kits being an issue, he added.

‘I said it before the game that it was quite strange that both sides were almost wearing the same colours or identical. But this was the only shirt they had and a blue one I believe and the referee wouldn’t let them play in blue, so they needed to wear the white one. We were wearing white as well of course so our kitman needed to get the stuff and then we changed it.’

Stevenage manager Darren Sarll in his comparative interview explained briefly.

nage manager Darren Sarll:

‘I’m very frustrated that we couldn’t convert any of our chances. When you don’t against a Championship side, you get punished.’
