Nigerian new boy Sam Sodje is set to have investigative knee surgery tomorrow. The central defender has been hampered by the knee injury since he began his time with the Royals back in July.
The centre back made his competitive debut against Wigan in the 1-0 defeat at the JJB Stadium.
Club Physiotherapist Jon Fearn said “He`s had persistent swelling on the knee.”
“With an arthroscopy he`ll be out a minimum of two to three weeks, but its all quite open really.”
Meanwhile, Dave Kitson hopes to be fit for the Man City game next Monday night.
The hit man was injured in Reading`s 3-2 victory over Middlesborough on the first day of the season.
Although he is eager to be back in time to play the second Premiership game at the Madjeski Stadium, it is thought that it might be a little too soon for the injury-prone striker to make a return.
“Kits has started running drills.” Says Jon Fearn “But he still has a problem running in certain directions; the ligament is not strong enough to do everything.”
“There`s a small chance he`ll start against City but we`d want him to be more advanced then he is at the moment.”
In other injury news, captain Graeme Murty has returned to Reading from international duty. Murts was deemed not fit to play in Scotland`s international that took place on Saturday and the impending fixture against Lithuania on Wednesday evening.
The skipper missed out due to hamstring problems but it isn`t thought to dampen his chances of starting against Man City on Monday.
“He`s back with us now is maybe 80%. He won`t be training tomorrow, but may do on Wednesday.”
Elsewhere, Glenn Little could make his first Premiership appearance for the Royals against Man City.
The winger has been out of action since before the season started, but played 75minutes for the reserves in their win over Villa, 2-1.
Finally, Aaron Brown, who broke his ankle in Reading`s first friendly of the summer against Didcot Town, could have the screws removed from his leg.
The defender will visit a consultant on Wednesday and will be hoping to come off of his crutches after.

It’s tough enough in the Premiership without injury problems. At least Kitson looks like he’s on his way back.
