Ingimarsson, who has only returned to to the side in recent months after spending 9 months out with a knee injury, was made club captain by Brendan Rodgers and is a key player in the current Royals side. It is no coincidence that the mini revival we are currently on has began when the Icelander has finally found his form and fitness at the heart of the defence.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and the club have offered him a 1 year extension to keep him at the club until the summer of 2011, but he has turned this down. It is not thought to be an issue of money, but he feels that he deserves at least a 2 year extension.

Unfortunatly with a history of injury problems and the fact he isn’t getting any younger, it is highly unlikely that the club will offer a longer deal. It is well known that we don’t have any money to spend and budgets are tight, so perhaps Inigmarsson will have to relent on his demands if his stay at the Madejski Stadium is to last much longer than this season.
