Bobby Convey is targeting the home match with Newcastle on Saturday as his return date from his latest injury setback.

Convey had returned from his long term injury last month, and was looking impressive but he then picked up a thigh injury in training, which has forced him to miss the last three Premier League matches, however he made his return for the reserves on Monday, putting in a good performance, so he feels he is ready for action this week, “The reserve game was good for me. It had a good attitude about it and we all got something out of it,” he told the Evening Post.

“But now it is all about playing in a real game and I am ready for Newcastle. It has been a few weeks, but I trained last week, played on Monday night and I’m banking on my natural fitness.”

Convey was starting to look very good before his training ground injury so it is highly probable that he will come into the midfield on the right hand side, with Stephen Hunt playing on the left, something that Steve Coppell has already said he would be willing to do.

Convey should be fit enough, so if his thigh is strong enough with the form he was showing after his long term injury I don’t think there is much doubt that he will return.
