Ibrahima Sonko returned for Reading on Saturday after nine months out injured. He didn’t do bad, but he concedes that it will take him time to get back to his best.

Not only did Sonko start the defeat against Blackburn, he also finished it, which was a bonus, even if the 4-2 defeat certainly wasn’t. After nine months out with his knee injury it is understandable that it will take him time to get back to his best, something he knows as he told readingfc.co.uk, “The leg is fine, but obviously the bad thing is that we lost.

“I need games like this to get back to my best. I need another game or two.

“I played the full 90, which was surprising – I thought I would get 60 or 70 minutes.”

Having Sonko back is a big boost for Reading, when he is fully firing and at his best it will be even better, but this will only come with the more games he plays.

  • Madejski Royal says:

Give him a few games and he’ll be as good as new, and the defence should also then improve dramatically.
