Huddersfield lead chase for Mooney

Mooney, along with Scott Davies, has been told he can leave the Madejski Stadium this summer and has been linked with a number of League One clubs who are looking to bolster their squad. The Irishman, who spent last season on loan at Charlton, has been linked with a move back to the Valley where manager, and Royals legend, Phil Parkinson is a big admirer of the former Cork City striker.

However it is League One rivals Huddersfield who look favourites for his signature after their manager Lee Clark declared himself keen to improve his attacking options.

Both clubs are rumoured to have had scouts watching him during the reserves 3-0 win over Staines on Tuesday night, where he put in a decent performance and set up a goal for youngster Harry Harding.
