Reading midfielder Brian Howard is set to leave his parent club Reading in the upcoming transfer window, with him being surplus to requirements at the Madejski Stadium.

The 28-year old has been on loan at Championship rivals Millwall for over a month and could his move to the Den permanent in the next window, with discussions between the two clubs ongoing.

Howard told GetReading: ‘Sadly I feel my Reading career ended a long time ago. It’s a shame, I wanted to stay and play but I wasn’t getting a look-in and sometimes I wasn’t even in the squad, let along the team.’

In the past few months and the previous season, appearances in a Reading shirt have come by rarely for Howard, with this move away being on the cards for several months for the former Sheffield United midfielder.

Despite Millwall’s interest, there are other Championship clubs interested in the playmaker, with his former club Barsnley perusing an interest.

In other transfer news, Jimmy Kebe has broken his contract silence and is expected to leave the club. More to come on that story tomorrow….
