Jonny Fordham of the Reading Post has exclusively revealed that Brian Howard and Marcus Williams have asked to leave the Royals, with the transfer deadline looming.

Both players have struggled to cement first team places, with neither of them starting in the league yet this season.

Howard has been at the club since 2009 and has made 67 appearances, scoring just 3 goals. He has been previously linked with his former club Barnsley and Portsmouth too.

Williams has only made three starts in a Royals shirt and has been shipped out on loan twice. With the signing of Joseph Mills, it could spell the end of Williams’ Royals stay.

With Brian Howard leaving it could give the green light to the signing of Jacob Mellis, who has been linked with a possible loan move from Chelsea.

More to come later on……
