Hod off!

This morning’s press are linking former England and Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle with the vacant manager’s position at the Madejski Stadium. The Daily Mirror, as well as radio station TalkSport, are saying that Hoddle is on Sir John Madejski’s shortlist for the job and his ‘commitment to passing football’ and ability to nurture young players make him an attractive proposition, according to journalist’s.

Of course its reported time and time again that he lives in Ascot and its not the first time he has been linked with the role after he was one of the favourites when Tommy Burns was sacked, before Alan Pardew took over.

However this could be a massive step backwards for the club. Hoddle has been out of frontline management for three and a half years since he was sacked by Wolves. He has focused his attentions on his academy in Jerez, Spain, that aims to get released junior players back in to the professional game.

His ability to handle players has always been in question and his success at Swindon and Chelsea were a long long time ago, and many still cannot forget his comments on the disabled that saw him sacked as England manager.

I would lose further faith in Madejski to run this club if he appointed this mentalist as our new manager.
