Henry completes Millwall move

The Royals accepted an undisclosed bid from the South London club on Monday for winger James Henry, and the youngster has now completed his switch to the New Den.

Henry is a graduate from the clubs academy but has struggled to find a place in the first team under Steve Coppell, Brendan Rodgers and Brian McDermott. He has spent time on loan at Norwich and Bournemouth but also spent considerable time at Millwall in each of the last two seasons and became a crowd favourite despite some early troubles with the Lions.

The Royals director of football Nick Hammond told the Official Site, ‘We would like to wish James all the very best for the future but he simply needs to be playing regular first team football. With the players we have here we are not in a position to offer him regular games that he needs to get to the next stage in his development.’

The good news for Royals fans though is that we have managed to negotiate a significant sell on clause, as we did with Simon Cox, so we will benefit if he does go onto greater things in his career.
