Reading veterans Ian Harte and Brynjar Gunnarsson have been offered new deals at the club.
The 33-year old Irishman’s deal was set to run out at the end of the current season, but the Royals have moved quickly to hopefully tie down the left back for another year. Harte was also named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, voted in by his fellow professionals.
Gunnarsson, 36, is believed to have been offered a player-coach role at the club. The Icelandic international has only made four appearances for the team this campaign and was widely expected to move back to his native country. However, Gunnarsson has admitted he feels he could still play for one or two more years.
This is the full list of players offered new deals at the club:
– Ian Harte
Brynjar Gunnarsson
Gozie Ugwu
Nick Arnold,
Jonathan Henly
Dean Santangelo
Michael Hector
Charlie Losasso
Matt Partridge
Josh Webb

Harte I understand. Sides in the Premier League press so much more than those in the championship which can make it very difficult for players who are not used to having so little time on the ball to adapt quickly and create (and consequently score) as many chances as they are used to. For that reason, having a player who is still one of the leading set piece players in the country is completely invaluable. Harte may need a lot of help from Jobi and whoever is player LCB next season, but he is experienced enough to be more than just a luxury player. Bryn – I am not so sure about. He has plenty of experience, but why let Griff go and keep him?
