Sigurdsson has had a fantastic break through season for the Royals, and is set to sweep the board at the end of season awards, and he could become the highest scoring Icelander in an English season as well.

If he scores once on Sunday against Preston he will go level with Heidur Helguson as the Icelander to score most goals in a Championship season – 16. Gylfi is currently on 15 league goals for the Royals and could break the record with two strikes.

If he manages to bag a hat trick he will break Eidur Gudjohnsson’s record as the highest scoring Icelander in any English season. In all competitions the Royals star man has managed 19 goals, two short of the 21 bagged by the then Bolton man in the 99/00 season.

Gudjohnsson did managed 23 goals in one season for Chelsea in 01/02, however three of these goals were in Europe. So if Gylfi manages 5 goals then he will beat that record as well. Ok, maybe I am getting a bit carried away now!
