Much travelled Brynjar Gunnarsson has signed a new contract that will keep him with Reading until 2009.

The Icelandic international, who had to pull out of international duty this week with injury, has extended his current contract by another year, so will for all intent and purpose see out his career with Reading.

Having spent the majority of his time in England in the lower leagues, since arriving at Reading from Watford in 2005 he has proved a big hit and has not looked out of place at all in the Premiership.

Gunnarsson has taken to the Premiership like a duck to water, much like most of Reading’s players really. I would not bet against staying beyond 2009 either.
