Stoke defender Andy Griffin enjoyed a hugely succesful loan spell with the Royals at the end of last season and the club have been desperatly trying to convince him to join permanently at the Mad Stad.

He initially said he would prefer to stay up North, but he was so happy at the way the club and fans treated him during his loan spell that he is now interested in securing a permanent move.

He has a year to run on his contract at the Brittania Stadium, but has been told to find a new club and can move without a fee.

The only sticking point could be his wage demands as the Royals look to trim the wage bill over the summer, although the deal is still expected to go through.

One man who is not likely to join us is Zurab Kizhanishvili, who is being priced out of a move by club Blackburn. The former Premiership champions are demaning a fee (how dare they!!) for the former Rangers defender and Brian McDermott has admitted that we are not going to be able to sign him unless the price is lowered.
