Brian McDermott has made his second signing as Royals manager (Can we call him that? Maybe Mr Madejski will tell us soon!) after bringing in Stoke City full back Andy Griffin on loan until the end of the season.

Vital Reading told you on Thursday that Griffin was being lined up to add some experience to the Royals squad and the deal is now confirmed. Griffin becomes the second loan signing of the month after Gunnar Thorvaldsson.

McDermott was delighted to have secured his man and some cover at right back, he told the Reading Post, ‘Andy`s a terrific lad who can play anywhere across the back four, but he`s come here to play games and fill in at right-back. He`s got experience at this level and in the Premier League with Stoke and his previous clubs, he`ll be a good addition to the squad.’

Griffin won’t be eligable for Wednesdays trip to Liverpool but will make his debut against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
