Green Strikes back at Readings Cost

West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green has endured some horrible moments at Reading’s Madejski Stadium in recent years, but revenge was sweet for him, at Reading’s expense on Saturday.

The England goalkeeper made several fine saves to keep Reading at bay and also saved a penalty, which he has since revealed is the first penalty he has saved in his career, spanning almost 300 games.

He would have been forgiven for feeling that the Madejski Stadium had been unlucky for him, as prior to Saturday he had conceded eleven goals in three matches in the Stadium, for club and country as well a rupturing his groin playing for England prior to the 2006 World Cup Finals, which saw him miss the squad.

Although it would have been nice to have again seen him concede more goals I can’t help but feel Karma has been on his side, which he deserves, and I’m glad in many ways that his misfortune at the Stadium has ended, I just wish it had ended without West Ham winning 3-0!
