Reading defender Kaspars Gorkss has completed his three-month loan deal to Championship side Wolves.

As reported yesterday, Dean Saunders was in talk with the Latvian international captain regarding a move to Molineaux, while it was believed that Blackburn Rovers were also interested. The deal also has a view to a permanent move for Gorkss, who joined Reading from QPR back in 2011 for £900,000.

Kaspars lost his place in the Royals side in mid November and has not made an appearance for McDermott’s men since then, becoming fourth choice at the Madejski Stadium. Reading also have the choice to recall the central defender from his loan deal, but has to be within the first 28 days of the loan period.

It’s sad to see Gorkss leave and presumably for the long-term, with a permanent deal a possibility at the end of the season. In some ways he was too good for the Championship, but not good enough for the Premier League. There is no doubt that Wolves have a great signing, who will hopefully stop their defensive frailties.
