Pardew and Dillon were the management team that got us promoted from the old division two on that wonderful afternoon at Brentford. However things are not so rosy for the former Royals right now and both find themselves under pressure.

Pardew was appointed manager of Southampton in the summer and has overturned the 10 point deficit they had at the start of the season to push them into mid table. However the clubs Swedish owners are not happy with the Saints form in recent week and despite significant investment on the playing staff, they would still be outside the play offs even without the points penalty.

He did manage to secure the South Coast club a trip to Wembley in the Johnstons Paint trophy but it remains to be seen whether he will still be at the helm for the trip!

Meanwhile at local rivals Aldershot Kevin Dillon doesn’t appear to be flavour of the month at the Recreation Ground! The Aldershot site, Vital Shots, has reported that many fans do not forgive his Reading past and have been on his back from day one. Younger readers of this site please note that Aldershot are our proper rivals, and always were back in the day!

The site reports that, From day one there have been people on the message boards and on the terrace who were unsure about the appointment of the former Reading assistant.

It also mentions how his defensive tactics are the complete opposite of former manager Gary Waddock and only the minority are happy to let Dillon build his own side over time. I think they are just bitter that their cup final next season doesn’tlook like happening as they slip outside the play offs in League 2 and we are nearly out of the relegation zone in the Championship!
