Its always good to keep upto date with former Royals, especially those that are not usually in the headlines.

Irishman Joe Gamble, who had a three year spell at the Madejski Stadium between 2001 and 2004 has joined League One side Hartlepool. He has been back at Cork City since leaving Berkshire and has been one of the best players in the Eircom League and played alongside Kevin Doyle, Shane Long and David Mooney.

It also gives us an excuse to mention the song Royals fans used to sing about him during his spell at the club – GAMBLE, TAKE THE MONEY, GAMBLE, TAKE THE MONEY!!

In other news former Loanee, and Reading born, defender Neil Clement has been forced to retire at the age of 31 after a longstanding knee injury. Clement made 11 appearances and was highly regarded by fans during his short stay at the club. He scored once against Lincoln in a 2-1 win at the Madejski Stadium with a long range effort that went straight through the legs of the opposition keeper!

He went on to become a legend at West Brom, who he played for in the Premier League.

Vital Reading would like to wish both players the best of luck for the future.
