Federici Will Forget United Mistakes

Adam Federici is refusing to dwell on his performance from Tuesday night. The 22-year-old keeper conceded three goals in six minutes against Man Utd in the 5th round FA Cup replay.

Federici admits he is at fault but will not get hung up about it: “Of course I’m disappointed but I can’t allow myself to get too down about it, I was just a bit unlucky.’

I for one commend Federici`s attitude, it is from games like these that he can draw on for the future. It is valuable playing time against teams like Man Utd that will improve him and help him mature in to the great goalkeeper he is clearly destined to be.

Federici also paid tribute to his team-mates for the fight-back they mounted despite a three goal deficit.

‘We could have laid down after that start and let United run all over us, but we showed great courage and attitude to come back to 3-2 and made it one hell of a game.’

Federici neglected to mention his own performance, but he was one of the heroes of the night too. Despite an early hiccup he played a great game and made some crucial saves that gave Reading the hope to keep fighting until the end.

And Steve Coppell was quick to remind anyone eager to throw blame at ‘the Fed` that:

“We conceded three goals as a team – not the keeper – that has got to be our mentality. Football isn`t all a bed of roses and what happened on Tuesday will spur us all on, not just Adam.

“That`s what makes us better and makes us more competitive. It will be a huge motivation for him.”

And the young goalie still gave such a good account of himself that he will be rewarded with a new two year contract.

The contract is still in the negotiation stage but it is expected to be all wrapped by the end of the week and Steve Coppell added that he sees the Aussie pushing MArcusHahnemann for the regular place between the Readign sticks.

A flattered Federici added: “I am hoping to sign it this week. I expect to have it all done by Friday.”

federici needs to go and have a long hard think about if he is in the right profession. he looked amateur at best. what a c**k ruining our chances of FA cup glory. marcus hahnemann is the only keeper for this club

I can agree with you to an extent, Link, but at the moment he is lightyears away from replacing Hahnemann! USA! USA!
Again RTID! very narrow minded! He is good quality just needs more practice!
