Federici to Sit Out Aussie Match

It was feared that Reading might lose goalkeeper Adam Federici next month, with him probably called up for international duty with Australia, but that won’t be the case.

With time on his side, and it likely that he would only be on the bench anyway he had said that he will not be taking part in the glitzy friendly with Argentina, taking place in Melbourne on September 11.

“I was on the bench for a friendly with Uruguay at the end of last season and would love to be given the chance to play for my country but I won’t be going to this one,” said the Aussie youngster.

“Australia also play friendlies in Europe so those are the ones I would be able to be involved in.

“Time is on my side – I’m only 22 and Mark Schwarzer is 35 so I have just got to be patient. I feel I am way ahead of myself anyway, especially when you consider I didn’t even have a club two years ago.”

What a great attitude to have, even more so for a goalkeeper that isn’t even the number one here, so it is not as if he would be sacrificing his place is it. Other could learn from this. Good on him.

Federici has the making of an excellent goalkeeper, making this sort of sacrifice for Reading proves how commited he is.
