Royals keeper Adam Federici was beaten by two late goals at Scunthorpe on Tuesday night, and it helped the visitors get a point. However the Aussie keeper was furious with referee Graham Salisbury who only gave defender Cliff Byrne a yellow card when he brought down Jobi McAnuff, who was clean through on goal.

Federici told The Reading Post, ‘The ref did his best to feel sorry for them and get them back in the game. I`m pretty sure there should have been a sending-off, but that`s another issue. It`s the second week that we`ve had a ref give a bit of sympathy to another side when we`re doing well and it`s really frustrating.’

He was honest enough to admit that the Royals should have seen the game out when 2-0 up. He said, ‘At 2-0 up we should have seen the game off. We gave them too many chances to get back into it.’

Federici will be hoping that any sloppiness in parts of play at Glanford Park will be quickly forgotten when we travel to Watford on Saturday.
