Adam Federici has been included in Australia’s 31 man provisional squad for the World Cup by coach Pim Verbeek snd now looks set to go to South Africa this summer.

All 32 countries named provisional squads on Tuesday that will be trimmed down to 23 by 1st June however Federici’s place looks assured. Verbeek has named 4 goalkeepers with Adelaide’s Eugene Galekovic only selected in the case of an injury to one of the first choice stoppers, which also includes Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer and Middlesbrough’s Brad Jones.

Federici will follow in the footsteps of Bobby Convey who appeared at the last World Cup for America, whilst still a Royals player.

The Aussie’s are in the tough looking Group D alongside Germany, Ghana and Serbia. You can be sure to keep upto date with Federici’s progress in South Africa at Vital Reading.
