Facing The Impossible

Reading travel to top of the table Norwich City in the Championship tonight, with the seemingly impossible task of trying to claim any points in their bid to survive relegation.

The hosts are five points clear at the top of the league and have been extremely impressive this season. If the Canaries win and Sheffield United win at Birmingham, then Daniel Farke’s men will see themselves seven points clear at the top with five games to go.

If the Royals lose tonight and Rotherham pick up what seems like an unlikely win at home to in form Aston Villa, then Jose Gomes’ men would fall into the drop zone this evening.

Nelson Oliveira is unavailable for the game at Carrow Road as he is unable to play against his parent club. John Swift is doubtful for the game with a hip injury, but Sam Baldock may have recovered from his thigh injury in time to be named on the bench.

It’s highly unlikely but any points Reading can gain tonight would be massive and unexpected. Let’s hope we don’t get hammered, we need as much confidence as possible going into the home game against Brentford on Saturday.
