Experience added to backroom staff

Nigel Adkins has brought in former Brighton manager Dean Wilkins as Reading’s first team coach.

The 50-year old worked with Adkins at Southampton for nearly three years, alongside his assistant manager Andy Crosby. Dean, brother of Ray, brings a wealth of experience to the Madejski Stadium, having also worked under former Royals boss Alan Pardew.

Wilkins also succeeded another former Reading manager, Mark McGhee, taking over at Brighton when the Scotsman was sacked. Despite doing a credible job with the Seagulls, he was relieved of his duties after two seasons on the south-coast.

I’m sure that Wilkins will be a great addition to the coaching team, especially considering how closely he has worked with Adkins in the past. I can’t see him bringing in anymore staff, as it the staffing team remained mainly unchanged when McDermott left.
