George Evans has signed for Derby County on a three year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Evans joined Reading from Man City in January 2016 after some impressive loan spells away from the Etihad. The midfielder scored 4 goals for the Royals in 67 appearances over his two and a half years at the Madejski.
Rams manager Frank Lampard said on www.dcfc.co.uk: “I worked with him when I was at Manchester City – he was training with the first-team regularly at the time – and he impressed me with the way he played, as well as with his attitude. George has fantastic attributes and will of benefit to us both on and off the pitch.”*
I’m sad to see Evans leave in all honesty. I thought he has good potential. With the majority of his time at the Mad Stad being under Jaap Stam, it was quite clear to see that Joey van den Berg was preferred to Evans in that central role of a midfield three, which is a shame because when Evans played he looked head and shoulders better than the Dutchman. I certainly would have liked us to keep him around and see him fulfil his potential but unfortunately, that won’t be.
Good luck in Derby, George!
