Dumb to Dumber

Just when I thought you couldn’t get any dumber, you go and do something like this… and totally redeem yourself! Or not? Unfortunately Mr Madejski has gone from dumb to dumber.

After seeing his football club drop into the bottom three, and relegation becoming more than likely, big JM decided to make the world aware that ‘significant investment` would be made should the club stay up. Thanks John, the phrase ‘too little, too late` springs to mind for some reason.

Not only is it glaringly obvious that investment was needed a year ago, the timing of Madejski`s comments couldn`t have come at a worse time. ‘OK lads, go out there and get a result, oh and if we do stay up, I`m replacing you all.` Impeccable timing as always.

Moving on from that, Mr Madejski has come up with another one of his pearls of wisdom, this time, he has managed to hit the nail right on the head.

So John, why are we in the relegation zone? Lack of investment? Loss of our best player due to refusal to pay Premier League wages? Nope, second season syndrome of course.

Madejski had these wise words to say, “This hasn’t happened over a game a two – it is second season syndrome to a large extent.

‘The second season, every team around us knows what we are about – they have played us before.

‘I think we have only known success with this squad so I think there is all sorts of things that can conspire.

‘Everybody has to take the fair share of recriminations – but I don’t want to start talking about recriminations until we have to – but everyone has to take the responsibility for what has happened,’

Ok, John, so you don`t want to point a finger, I`ll do it for you.

Don`t get me wrong, I am grateful for everything John Madejski has done for Reading football club, and he is a key reason for Reading being in the Premier League in the first place, but his lack of investment, lack of football intelligence and lack of respect for the fans are the reasons Reading have struggled this season.

Be it naivety or simply greed, John Madejski has made no attempt to compete in this league and because of this, relegation has become both likely and deserved.

I know I speak for the majority of reading fans when i say how let down I feel by the club. We were told that the season tickets were going up to help with funds to build up our squad. With every transfer window we were told money would be spent and then wasn’t. Our best player Steve Sidwell, wasn’t offered premiership wages, he left on a free, then a year later that average championship player stephen hunt was given 25k a week, what a joke. Hunt getting player of the season sums up what a shocking season it has been. The signs were there in january and nothing was done about it, I’m gutted that we will porbably go down without a fight, but it will serve madejski right as he will not be able to get his greedy mits on the ridiculous £108 million asking price he slapped on the club. I know he has been a key figure in the rfc success story but he has lost the trust and respect of the reading fans through continous BS.
Sorry for the rant, and as annoyed and disappointed as I am with the club, I will still be 100% behind my team in august, whether we’re playing man utd or carlisle utd.

Yeah not been a particularly good build up so far for the Derby game. ESP with Dillon saying that we deserve to go down if we can’t beat Derby! There is nothing more than an insult to fire up the Derby players!!!!!!!

I might release a statement saying how brilliant Paul Jewell is and derby will bounce straight back up next season. Maybe then they’ll let us win – flattery will get you everywhere…
