Wolves striker Kevin Doyle has been linked with a sensational return to former club Reading.

The Daily Star has reported that Wolves would be tempted with a £5 million offer for the Republic of Ireland international, who has struggled to make a lasting impact at the relegation-threatened club this season.

This deal could be strongly dependent on the likelihood of both clubs swapping divisions come the summer. Wolves find themselves in bottom place in the Premier League, while Reading sit in second spot in the Championship.

With the immenent takeover by Thames Sports Investments, money will certainly be made available to Royals boss Brian McDermott, irrelevant of what division they will be in come next season. Others names mentioned have been Craig Mackail-Smith and Huddersfield hotshot Jordan Rhodes.
