Doncaster striker Billy Sharp has been linked with a potential move to Championship rivals Reading, after new Russian investment has allowed Royals boss Brian McDermott some funds in this transfer window.

TSI have promised ‘limited’ funding in this window, with McDermott discussing transfer targets in Milan last week. A striker appears to be high on his wanted list, after his current strike force struggling for goals.

Sharp has already rejected fellow Championship side Leicester City this month, after Donny allowed him to talk to the Foxes. McDermott has also previously stated his admiration of the former Sheffield United striker. Southampton are also interested after ending their pursue of Gary Hooper.

The 25-year old has been in decent form this season, scoring 10 goals so far in the league but, it could be a more likely situation for Sharp to leave at the end of the season. He has also endured a traumatic past few months, after losing his baby son.
