Defensive Lapses “Annoy” Murty

The defensive frailties of Reading have been highlighted once or twice, and now captain Graeme Murty has expressed his concern.

If you keep conceding goals as easily, and as frequently as Reading are, 22 in ten Premier League games, you are always going to find it hard to get positive results, so Murty has urged his teammates to cut out the slackness, and stop conceding goals that are annoying him, “Of course it’s a worry and it’s an annoyance,” Murty told the media.

“If you ask any of the back five they will tell you it gives them a big headache. We don’t like it because we feel we are letting the rest of the team down.

“Having said that, we win as a team and lose as a team, and everyone has to muck in defensively.

“But we want to keep clean sheets and give the boys up front a platform to go on and win the game for us.”

If you don’t concede you don’t lose do you, it’s that simple. Reading look like scoring more often than not but we can’t keep giving the goalscorers even more to do by conceding so many goals before hand.
