Reading defender Sean Morrison has called Saturday’s encounter with Southampton, a ‘must win’.

Just three points separate the two sides ahead of the match at St. Mary’s on Saturday, meaning a Reading win would take them above the Saints and just one point off Sunderland in 17th. The 21-year old has been a revelation since coming into the Royals side, impressing defensively and adding his fair share of goals.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against the Saints, Morrison told the Reading Chronicle: ‘Saturday is a massive game and some people may call it a six-pointer. We’re amongst a group of teams down near the bottom and now we need to go to Southampton and pick up three points. It doesn’t matter how we do it but that has to be our goal now.’

‘If you look at Manchester United’s goals, they were all fairly soft apart from maybe Robin Van Persie’s fourth one. I think we can take away a lot as they’re one of the best teams in the world. It’s not like we were ripped apart. It was disappointing but all we can do is take the positives from that into Southampton.’

I think it’s a tad early to say, if we lose this, that we are doomed. However, a loss would probably send the confidence straight back down, after a hearted performance against Manchester United. If someone offered me a point, I wouldn’t take it. Similarly to us, Southampton aren’t the best defensively, so we need to take advantage of this.
