DC United Make Light of Link To Adu

DC United, the MLS club whom Freddy Adu plays for have insisted the teenager is not heading across the pond to newly promoted Reading.

Speculation in tabloid papers suggested that the Ghanaian born US international would join the Royals on loan in the January transfer window with a view to make the deal permanent the following summer.

However a spokesman for DC United told the BBC: ‘We expect Freddy to be in our uniform for the foreseeable future.

‘He is the focal point of the team and a very popular figure at the club.’

‘DC United have always been a big draw and Adu is also a big draw,’

‘We are pleased with the way he has developed.’

Adu is a huge American soccer success story, the midfielder is only 17years old and has already been capped internationally – the youngest in any sport in American history.

Adu`s agent has also linked him with Chelsea and Manchester United in the past.
