Davies desperate for first team chance

Davies began the season in the first team under Brendan Rodgers and played in the clubs first three games of the season but found himself out of the side following the breakthrough of Gylfi Sigurdsson.

He has since impressed on loan at Wycombe, where he linked up with Gary Waddock who also managed him at two previous spells at Aldershot. He has had over 100 games of league experience whilst out on loan and is desperate to force his way into Brian McDermott’s plans.

He told the Reading Post, ‘Wycombe wanted me to stay longer, but I felt I had done enough there to come back to Reading and stake my claim on the first-team.’

Whilst he impressed when in the side earlier this season, Sigurdsson is now one of our key players and it would be difficult to see how we could fit him into a team that is overloaded with midfielders.

Whilst Davies could come back and prove the Royals wrong if they did get rid of him, it’s a similar situation to Simon Cox a few years back. He is not going to play right now and if he is so desperate for first team football then he will have to leave.
